چکیده

Jensen sarcoma, Walker carcinoma, Xovikoff hepatoma, and MDAB hepatoma were used to study the effects of different sites of tumor implantation upon the host rat. Equal volumes of the same tumor cell suspension were given either i.p., i.m., or s.c. Tumor effects upon the host rat were compared between implant sites, between the different tumors, and with azo dye-induced primary tumors. Host effects measured were carcass weight, hemoglobin concentration, liver catalase activity, plasma copper, plasma iron, plasma lactic dehydrogenase, and various organ weight«. The effect of varying the tumor implantation site was signifi cant, and therefore must be considered in tumor-host relationship studies. Generally, the i.p. transplants had the most rapid growth and produced the largest adrenals, smallest thymuses, lowest total iron-binding capacity, and most anemia. The i.m. transplants caused the most carcass weight loss and the greatest lowering of liver catalase and plasma iron concentration. Subcutaneous tumors caused the most pronounced increase in plasma copper and in liver and spleen weights. Although there were many simi larities between effects produced by primary and transplantable tumors, no one site of implantation accurately reproduced the host effects seen with the primary tumor.

Implantation Metastasis of Synovial Cell Sarcoma: Lessons Learned from a Mistake

Implantation metastasis occurs when tumor seeds into a wound or tissue by a significant amount of viable tumor cells. Here we describe the case of a 30-year-old man suffering from pain and swelling of the foot, which was misdiagnosed as a bone cyst. Surgery was performed involving curettage followed by bone grafting. After surgical pathology, the exact diagnosis was revealed as the synovial sar...

Mathematical Modeling for Homogeneous Tumor with Delay in Time

Due to the properties of tumor cell, the tumor establishes itself in the organ and grows there, so there is a competition between the tumor cells and host cell (normal cells) for nutrients. Evidences show that high dietary phosphorus increases the rate of protein synthesis and thus the cell number. So, other than oxygen, sulfur, the important element that both tumor cells and normal cells need ...

Impact of Metformin and Pioglitazone on Serum Level of Tumor Necrosis Factor-Alpha and Lipid Profiles during Implantation Window in Diabetic Rats

Objective Objectives: The present study was designed to evaluate the serum lipid profile and Tumor Necrosis Factor alpha (TNF-ɑ) level in diabetic rats at the time of implantation. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) could affect various systems, including innate immune system and causes chronic low-grade inflammation which increases the level of TNF-ɑ. Furthermore, T2DM is often accompanied by imp...

Analysis of the Effects of Hyperthermia with Magnetic Nanoparticles on Cancer Tissues

Introduction: Hyperthermia is one of the noninvasive methods of treating cancer. In this method, heat can be generated in several methods. One of these methods is injecting magnetic nanoparticles as a solution into the tumor site and place it in a magnetic field. Methods: The study was analytical one, modeling was performed using computational methods, and in vitro experimental data were used ...
